Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Cardpace is made by Ozan Emre Duran, an independent developer. There is no company behind it, no investors, and no data business. The app is paid for once, by you, and that is the whole business model.

2. What we collect

Nothing. Cardpace contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. There is no user account, so there is nothing to sign up with and nothing for us to hold. We do not know how many cards you have, what is on them, or whether you opened the app today.

3. What the app stores on your device

Everything Cardpace remembers is kept in the app’s own storage on your iPhone or iPad:

• Your decks and cards — the text, images and audio you write or import.
• Your review history — which card you saw when, how you rated it, and the scheduling state derived from that.
• Your settings — daily goals, deck options, appearance, reminder time.

Deleting the app removes all of it from that device.

4. iCloud sync

Sync is off by default and is part of the optional Pro unlock. When you turn it on, your decks are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit.

This matters, so to be precise about it: the data goes to your Apple Account, not to us. We have no server in this path and no way to read, list or recover your cards. Neither can anyone else who is not signed in to your Apple Account. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

If you turn sync off or stop using Cardpace, the copy in iCloud does not disappear on its own. You can remove it from inside the app (Settings → iCloud Sync → Remove iCloud copy), or from iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

5. Network access

iCloud sync is the only reason Cardpace ever uses the network, and only when you have enabled it. The app fetches nothing, phones home about nothing, and loads no remote content into your cards. Card content is rendered by the app itself rather than in a web view, so an imported deck cannot quietly reach the internet either.

6. Microphone

Cardpace asks for microphone access only at the moment you choose to record audio for a card. It is never requested at launch, and the app never records on its own. Recordings are stored with your cards like any other card content.

7. Photos

Adding an image to a card uses the system photo picker. That picker runs outside the app and hands Cardpace only the picture you selected — the app is never granted access to your photo library, which is why iOS does not ask you for permission.

8. Files you import

Cardpace can import Anki packages (.apkg, .colpkg) and delimited text (.csv, .tsv). These files are opened and processed entirely on your device. Nothing about them is uploaded or reported. Imported cards are then yours, stored exactly like cards you wrote yourself.

You are responsible for having the right to use decks you bring into the app.

9. Getting your data out

Your data is never locked in. Cardpace exports to .csv free of charge, always — this is deliberate and will not change in a future version. Pro additionally exports full-fidelity .apkg packages that Anki and other clients can read.

Exported files are handed to the iOS share sheet and go wherever you send them. Cardpace does not upload them anywhere.

10. Deleting your data

Settings → Data offers Delete everything, which removes your decks, cards, review history and settings. If iCloud sync is on, the same screen removes the iCloud copy. Deleting the app removes the local data regardless.

Because we hold nothing, there is no account to close and no request to send us. Your rights of access, portability and erasure under the GDPR, the Turkish KVKK and similar laws are satisfied directly in the app: export takes one tap, deletion takes two.

11. Purchases

The Pro unlock is a one-time purchase processed by Apple. We never see your payment details, name or address — Apple tells the app only whether this Apple Account is entitled to Pro. Purchase records are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

12. Children

Cardpace is a study tool that collects no personal information from users of any age. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not part of the App Store Kids category.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version appears on this page with an updated date. A change that would affect what the app does with your data would also be described in the release notes.
